Minor soiling and discolouration to cloth. Torn front hinge and rear hinge cracked internally. Heavy damp staining and spotting throughout. Ink inscription on dedication page. Some ink underlining. The subject of this work wrote poetry and essays, became a Temperance advocate and a local preacher, studied medicine, entered Normal School and college, travelled to US and became a surgeon, died young. Contains some of his poetry on such subjects as "The Battle of Waterloo," "Lament of the Normal School Student," etc.
