Hoadly was successively Bishop of Bangor, Hereford, Salisbury and Winchester. Ordained in 1701, he was rector of St. Peter-le-Poor parish, London, from 1704 to 1724 and published these sermons during this time. He is most famous for initiating the Bangorian Controversy, a theological argument within the Church of England in the 18th century. More photos available on request.
