Ltd. ed., #43 of 100. 96 p. 25 cm. Title page and headpieces by Edmund H. Garrett. Frontispiece. White cloth hardcover with gold lettering. Soiled and spotted. Spine ends softened. Worn spine label. Bookplate, stain, foxing and inscription on front endpapers. Pages untrimmed, except top, which is gilt. Drake's life was something of a story, finding him parentless and poor in youth, marrying well, and then dying young. His talent for poetry got him published in the New York Evening Post as one of a group that called themselves the Croakers. Unfortunately, he did not live to see the publishing and success of The Culprit Fay, which would prove to be his most popular work. Also includes miscellaneous poems such as Niagara, Written in a Lady's Album, To Eva, Bronx, The American Flag, etc.
