Karl und Anna was first published in 1927, and was the immediate cause of Herr Leonard Frank's election to the German Academy of Letters. It was produced as a play in Germany (the author himself having dramatised the story) in February 1929, and an English version of the Play will shortly be performed in London. The story was filmed in Germany in 1928; and is now being shown under the title of Homecoming, and this edition of the book contains four illustrations from the film. Actors identified as Dita Parlo, Lars Hansen, and Gustav Frölich.
