Karl und Anna was first published in 1927, and was the immediate cause of Herr Leonard Frank's election to the German Academy of Letters. It was produced as a play in Germany (the author himself having dramatised the story) in February 1929. The story was filmed in Germany in 1928; the film will be released in England under the title of Homecoming. - Publisher's Note.
