1964 science fiction novel written by the Soviet writers Arkady and Boris Strugatski, set in the Noon Universe. The novel follows Anton, an undercover operative from the future planet Earth, in his mission on an alien planet that is populated by humans living in a feudal state. Probably an allegory on Stalin's totalitarian state.
