The S. S. Ile de France was a French luxury ocean liner operating on the prestigious transatlantic route between Europe and New York from 1927 through to 1958. The ship was built in Saint-Nazaire for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (also known as the "French Line"). Neither the largest ship nor the fastest, The "Ile" was the first ever to be decorated almost entirely in Art Deco and was the preferred ship for young, fashionable elites.
