Regular price $200.00 CAD Sale

Sketches and essays by a Canadian author and social reformer. "Janey's" book portrays the early 20th-century Canadian west, with themes of nation-building, immigration, and life on the frontier. Better known under her married name, Emily Murphy, the author (1868–1933) made history as the first female magistrate in the British Empire. She was also leader of The Famous Five who championed the landmark Persons Case, ensuring Canadian women were legally recognized as "persons." Ernest William Haslehust (1866 – 1949) was a British landscape painter and book illustrator who usually worked in watercolours. Warwick Reynolds (1880-1926) is a lesser-known illustrator and cartoonist best-known for portraying animals.
