These dapper uniformed men are part of a regiment formed on 5 October 1866, as the 42nd Brockville Battalion of Infantry with companies in Almonte, Brockville, Perth, Fitzroy, Landsdowne and Smiths Falls. The regiment was later relocated to Pembroke, Ontario and redesignated as the 42nd Lanark and Renfrew Battalion of Infantry. O'Neill's home town of Eganville is in Renfrew County.
