Souvenir from a liner built in 1897 by Harland & Wolff, Belfast. During WWI it became a hospital ship. Despite being mined on Oct. 10, 1917, when there were 17 nursing sisters among the hundreds of crew and passengers, there were no casualties and the ship was towed into Malta. After repairs, the Goorkha resumed its commercial services until being broken up in England in 1928. This souvenir booklet signed "S" contains handwritten has poetry and humour "in remembrance of a pleasant voyage March 23rd, 1902." The ship appears to be en route to South Africa.
