Ukrainian artists Taras Polataiko's concept originated in his visit to Chornobyl in 1994. "Cradle marks a change in emphasis in Polataiko's work from a theoretical examination of representation towards that which is 'outside of language', to that which is mute, visceral and difficult to comprehend."
