This George Munro piracy published in November 1878 preceded the fully-illustrated, authorized Sampson Low and Charles Scribner editions, both dated 1879 on their title pages but published in December 1878. The latter publishers give the title character's name as "Sands." This is a great children's novel with a strong plot and lots of action. Sections relating to equatorial Africa and the slave trade are agonizingly accurate. 2 p. of ads at rear. Myers 15. Taves and Michaluk V018.
