VERNE, Jules; FREWER, Ellen E. (trans.); RIOU (illus.)

Regular price $350.00 Sale

One of Jules Verne's themes was survival under adverse circumstances, often involving shipwreck, castaways, and deserted islands. Osgood published an earlier smaller-sized, unillustrated American edition of "The Chancellor" in 1875. This may be a more collectable edition, having illustrations and a larger, more regular size. Apparently bound from the British sheets with the American title page added. Includes novella Martin Paz, one of Verne's early works, at rear. Myers 47. Taves & Michaluk V014.
