SOMERSET, H. Somers
Preface by A. Hungerford Pollen. The story of a hunting and exploring excurision in British Columbia. The group set out from Edmonton, travelled by the Athabasca to Fort Dunvegan on the Peace River, crossed the Rockies via the Pine and Misinchinka rivers to Fort McLeod, and then proceeded southeast to Quesnel via Fort St. James and the Stuart River. The journey, especially from Fort Dunvegan to Fort McLeod, was harrowing; it was rainy, game was scarce, and the men resorted to eating one of their packhorses. Lowther 1177. Smith 9656. Story p. 773.
