Opalotypes, or milk glass photographs, were printed on sheets of opaque, translucent white glass. Patented in 1857 by Glover and Bold of Liverpool, the process was never common but was practiced in various forms until it disappeared in the 1930s. Like ambrotypes, tintypes, and other historical processes, however, it may still be practised by a dedicated number of artists.
