Commissioned by the East India Company, the Royal Naval Ship Nemesis, under command of Captain Hall, was instrumental in the British Navy's success during the First Opium War, 1840-42. The Nemesis was designed to draw only six feet of water, enabling her to sail anywhere a junk might go, and offer close support to landing parties. Excellent map of Hong Kong.
