Includes three monographs: Rembrant's Etchings by P. G. Hamerton; Malta and the Knights Hospitallers by W. K. R. Bedford; Josiah Wedgwood, Master-Potter by A. H. Church. The Portfolio was a monthly art journal established in 1870, edited by Philip Gilbert Hamerton. Monographs were accompanied by original prints, prepared by eminent artists of the day. Eminent dealer Frederick Rathbone called Church's article on Wedgwood the best Wedgwood article evern written. Former owner Laurence Ambrose Waldron (1858-1923) was an Irish businessman and politician.

Foxing to endpapers, title page, and edges as well as a few plates.
