Edward Coleman (1636-78) was a Catholic courtier under Charles II, placed on trial for treason after being implicated by Titus Oates in the Popish Plot. The trial took place under Lord Chief Justice William Scroggs. This was the first major trial of the Popish Plot, which led to the execution of Coleman and many others.
