An Inquiry into the Nature and Tendency of Speculative Free-Masonry

STEARNS, John G. [Glazier]

Regular price $1,000.00 Sale

In Stearn's writings he takes the same stand as other anti-Masonic writers, that because Freemasonry is not essentially a Christian institution, it must be anti-Christian. Once a Mason himself, Stearns (1795-1874) gave up the order to attend a theological seminary in New York State. Otherwise, they wouldn't have him. By the time Stearns published this booklet, he was "Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Paris" (according to the title page) which isn't far from Utica. He wrote other theological treatises besides.
