Lt. Col. Henry Campbell Becher was born January 20, 1874 in London, Ontario to a prominent family, his father Henry having been mayor in 1885. Lt.-Col. Becher served 15 years in the 7th regiment of Fusiliers which he commanded before heading to Europe. On June 15, 1915, during the Second Battle of Ypres, he was killed by a gunshot wound to the neck. Buried Beuvry Cemetery, France.
