4 vols.: viii, 259; vi, 298; iv, 361; vi, 384 p. 27 cm. B&w illustrations throughout. Quarter red leather with red cloth. Gold impressed horse decorations on front covers. Corners worn, edges nicked in a few places, some soiling to cloth. Vol. II has a few spots at bottom of front board. Vol. III front cover soiled by a white substance. Occasional offsetting from plates. A bit of thumbing to vol. I frontispiece. A few rough page edges. Overall the pages are neat and clean. Books 1 & 2 illustrations are not in order as listed in the List of illustrations but follow the Contents and are complete. Book 3 is missing the print for Voltaire (1826). Book 4 is complete.
