Single page from "The Universal Traveller: Or, A Compleat Description Of the several Nations of the World" by Mr. Salmon, printed for Richard Baldwin, London, 1759. Key shows locations of various buildings, gardens, etc. Loango existed from approx. the 16th to 19th centuries in what is now western Congo, Southern Gabon and Cabinda, Angola. It exported copper to the European market and was a major producer and exporter of cloth. The Dutch recorded the first traditional account of the kingdom's origins as reported by the geographer Olfert Dapper.
