TPL 1159 also does not mention the Errata page which follows p. lvi in this copy.) The lawyer Samuel Edward Weir (1898-1981), to whom this book belonged, was born in our own London, Ontario. Ralfe Clench (ca. 1762-1828) was a farmer, judge and political figure in Upper Canada. He fought at Queenston Heights during the War of 1812, was captured by the Americans in 1813 and released at the end of the war. He married Elizabeth Johnson, who was the granddaughter of Sir William Johnson and Molly Brant. His home in Niagara-on-the-Lake is one of the most significant early 19th century buildings in the town and was carefully renovated and restored during 2008 and 2009. George Ball is probably a member of a Loyalist family who settled in the Niagara area.
