The author (1627?-1688) was a Whig lawyer and polemicist. This anti-Catholic tract supposes that, once the Duke of York (James II) becomes king, the governments of the once corporate towns, whose charters were lost, would be put in the hands of "papists" who intend the end of Protestantism.
