As noted on the title page, the author worked at the Hôpital Salpêtrière from 1895. He was one of the pioneers in the study of localisation of function in the brain. "Avec la collaboration de Madame Dejerine-Klumpke." Augusta Marie Klumpke, Dejerine's wife from 1888, studied medicine in Paris and in 1887 and was the first woman to become "interne des hôpitaux." 2 vols.: iii, [1], 816; 720, [8] p. 27 cm. 401 figs. in vol. 1, 465 in vol. 2. Most in b&w with partial colour added to 45 in the first vol. and 180 in the second. Quarter leather with marbled paper boards and patterned endpapers. Corners and edges a little wrorn. Vol. 1 has some discolouration to front board edge. Small scuff on rear of vol. 2. Dampstains to edges of endpapers and first pages in both volumes. Vol. 2 has thumbing inmargin of p. 167. Tiny tears in bottoms of first pages in vol. 1.
