French author Paul Lacroix (1806-1884) also used the pseudonym P. L. Jacobs or Bibliophile Jacob as indicated on the title page. The arts described here include furniture, tapestries, ceramics, armour, metalwork, musical instruments, painting, sculpture, architecture, and much more. Perhaps not surprisingly, "Bibliophile Jacob" included chapters on parchment and paper, manuscripts, miniatures, bookbinding and printing.
