Title continues: "Nunc demm ex Collatione Optimorum Exemplarium ab infinitis pen Mendis repurgatae; Un cum nonnullis Variorum Authorum Fabulis adjectis. Et Indice Correctiori praefixo." Whether the legendary Greek fabulist Aesop really existed remains a fascinating mystery. He may have been a slave and storyteller in ancient Greece or merely a legend. The series of fables that bear his name, however, have descended to modern times through a number of sources and continue to be reinterpreted. This early 18th-century Latin language collection was produced by the Company of Stationers.
