CARSON, Rachel L.; HOWE, Katherine L. (illus.)

Regular price $50.00 Sale

Marine biologist Rachel Carson reveals the science and poetry of the sea, ranging from its primeval beginnings to the latest scientific findings of her time. Part of her sea-trilogy, The Sea Around Us was preceded by Under The Sea Wind and followed by The Edge of the Sea. This book sold more than 250,000 copies in 1951, inundating the author with fan mail and media attention. A film version was released in 1953 and, although it won the 1953 Oscar for Best Documentary, Carson was extremely disappointed with the script and would never sell film rights to her work again.
