The 9th edition of Talavera is the first to include the additional poems, War Song, Songs of Trafalgar, and To Him Who Despairs Of Spain. Talavera was a British victory under Wellington in the Peninsular War and Croker (1780-1857) an Irish statesman. Wellington, on first reading Croker's poem, is said to have remarked, "I did not think a battle could be turned into anything so entertaining."
