Irving Layton continues to disconcert readers with his non-conformity. This collection of love (or lust) poems includes the startling "Love In A Cold Climate," "Woman," and "Seduction Of And By A Civilized Frenchwoman." The poet creates controversy to this very day; while some approve of his "tell it like it is" style, feminists dislike what they interpret as an immature attitude towards women and sex. This collection is illustrated by Graham Coughtry, well-known for his abstract human figures. The collection was printed in 1978 in three editions: an unremarkable trade edition; a limited edition of two hundred copies, signed by author and artist; and this extraordinary full suede edition, limited to 30 copies. A magnificent, pristine volume.
