John Moore (1729-1802) received his medical degree in Glasgow and later served in the Seven Years' War. His writings were referenced in the work of Lord Byron and Thomas Carlyle. The text offered here was a popular work from his period written in a tradition of travelogues published by authors such as Lawrence Sterne and Tobias Smollett and consider England's international relations with the European territories mentioned in the title.
