A promotional booklet distributed in 1936 to promote soprano opera singer, Kirsten Flagstad (1895-1962). Norwegian born, Flagstad made her theatrical debut in 1913 and began making recordings shortly thereafter. Praised for the beauty and quality of her voice, Flagstad starred in numerous Operettas and Operas including: Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde; Die Walkürel; Eugen d'Albert's Tiefland; and Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Flagstad performed on many American television programs and continued to record music after her retirement from the stage. This promotional booklet was released shortly before she returned to Norway (after a number of years in the USA). Her return was controversial because Norway was under Nazi occupation at the time. Later, her husband would be charged with war profiteering. While Flagstad's career continued, her voice began to weaken in her fifties, prompting her retirement from opera.
