A record of the poems recited at the Installation of Arthur Wellesley, the First Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), as the Chancellor of Oxford University in 1834, the same year that Wellesley stepped down as leader of the Conservative Party. The poems are mostly in either English or Greek; however, one poem is presented in Hebrew and English translation because, as the prefatory notes states, "it was not thought expedient to recite Hebrew in the Theatre."
