Johannes Tauler (ca. 1300-1361) was a German mystic, preacher, and theologian. A member of the Domican order, he was considered one of the most important mystics in the Rhineland. Tauler left no formal treatises but wrote around 80 sermons which began to be collected in his own lifetime and were first printed in Leipzig in 1498. The sermons contained here were considered to be among the best in the German language, not emotional, but practical, and touching the deeper problems of moral and spiritual life. German text.
