Lippincott's company began selling a line of Bibles like this one as well as prayer books and other religious works before expanding into trade books. For a time, in the 1850s, it did business as Lippincott, Grambo & Co., as demonstrated on this title page. Eventually it took on the name J. B. Lippincott & Co. Today HarperCollins controls Lippincott's back catalog of titles.

    1459, [24] p. 29 cm. Colour frontispiece and title page. Full leather with all edges gilt. Text block edge also gilt. Repaired spine tail. Crack in lower front hinge. Damp stained text block edge effecting some pages inside. Ink inscription on front endpaper, which also has chipped edges and blind stamp. Moderate foxing.
