Regular price $150.00 Sale

Daniel Hack Tuke was considered an expert on mental illness in his day. The Tuke family had long had an interest in the subject; his great-grandfather William Tuke and his grandfather Henry Tuke co-founded the Retreat, a hospital in northern England that revolutionized the treatment of insanity by treating patients in a humane manner. Interesting medical publications listed at rear include such titles as "One Hundred Urinary Deposits," "Lectures on Winter Cough," "Diseases of Hair," "Torquay in its Medical Aspect as a Resort for Polmonary Invalids," and "Irritability."
