The adventures of a rising young banker, from his first day (which makes him feel very small indeed) to his rise through the firm, culminating in his settling down with a wife and family. These cartoons first appeared in serial form in "Saturday Night" in 1913. Cartoonist Grover knew what he drew - he worked at the Canadian Bank of Commerce from April 17th, 1913. He went on to serve in the 166th Canadian Battalion and the 11th Infantry Brigade during World War I, producing sketches from the front for the "Canadian Courier." There seems to be no record of his activities after this, making one wonder if he was killed in action.
