George Bate (1608 -1668) was an English court physician who managed the stupendous feat of being doctor to Charles I, Cromwell and Charles II. In this second part of his "Account of the Troubles in England" (the English Civil War) he portrays himself as a fervent Royalist, a stand no doubt necessary if he was going to keep his position after the Restoration of Charles II.
