The Pirate and The Three Cutters

MARRYAT, Captain; STANFIELD, Clarkson (illus.)

Regular price $750.00 Sale

Frederick Marryat (1792 - 1848) came by his marine knowledge first hand, having been an English Royal Navy officer. A contemporary and acquaintance of Charles Dickens, he is remembered today as an early pioneer of the sea story. His best-known work is probably the semi-autobiographical Mr Midshipman Easy. The illustrations here are by Clarkson Stanfield, prominent English marine painter.
