Portraits of the major players of the French Revolution. Some, like Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, Robespierre, Lafayette and Charlotte Corday, are well-known. Others are less famous today, like Jacques Billaud-Varennes, an instrumental but largely forgotten figure during the Reign of Terror. Unlike many, he survived the revolutionary period, dying in the Caribbean in 1819.
