David-Augustin de Brueys (1640 - 1723) was a French theologian and dramatist. Here he recounts the 17th-century persecution of the French Huguenots and the religious ecstasy many displayed. The first portion of this work originally came out in 1692.

Details: 3 vols.: xlix, 386; 410; 411-640, cxxxvi. 16 cm. Vol. 1 has frontispiece portrait and another engraving opposite p. 1. Another engraving in vol. 2. Full leather with gilt impressing on spines, red text block edges, marbled endpapers. Ink signatures on front pastedowns. Vol. 1 has chipped spine ends, front hinge cracking slightly at bases, corners lightly bumped, small label on front pastedown, small bit of newsprint pasted across from half-title. Vol. 2 has thin scuff mark on front board. Dampness stains at page tops in vol. 2 and bottom corners towards rear in vol. 3.
