A collection of 58 articles about North Africa from various sources, including magazines eg. "European Magazine," "The Monthly Review," "The Century Magazine," as well as books. They are in no particular order, although earlier items are generally nearer the front. Some are advertisements or book reviews, such as the second item, "Frederick Horneman's Travels." Some reviews are quite long, being almost abridged versions of the books; see the fourth item, which describes writings by Captain Lyon and John Dudley in 1821. Other items are like op-ed pieces; see "Tunis" by A. Gallenga, in "The Contemporary Review." And some are pure travelogue, like "A Visit to Madeira and Teneriffe." Altogether a good overview of the European portrayal of North Africa in the 19th century.
