The Young Seigneur; Or, Nation-Making

CHATEAUCLAIR, Wilfrid [LIGHTHALL, W. D.]

Regular price $100.00 CAD Sale

The chief aim of this book is the perhaps too bold one - to map out a future for the Canadian nation, which has been hitherto drifting without any plan writes the author in his preface. This was the author's first novel, although he claims it isn't one, since he detests "the novel with a purpose." The Young Seigneur is an interesting historical curiosity, in which an Ontario author writes using a French nom de plume, perhaps to make his opinions about Quebec more acceptable. Were Lighthall's opinions correct? Are they still correct today? And are we still drifting without a plan? You decide. Watters 329. Rohdenizer 728.
