Books were bound by James Hayday (1796-1872). According to Wikipedia, works bound by Hayday became famous, and his name attached to a book raised its value twenty-five per cent. William Pickering, whose anchor and dolphin device appears on the titles, introduced him to many wealthy patrons. Despite this, Hayday was unable to compete with cheaper binders and was bankrupt in 1861. Note bookplates for Field Marshall Charles Moore, 1st Marquess of Drogheda, and blind stamp of Prof. Ernest Sirluck (1918-2013) who taught in the University of Toronto's English department.
