BOILEAU-DESPREAUX, Nicolas

Regular price $650.00 CAD Sale

One would not expect the fifteenth child of a Paris Parliamentary clerk to become one of France's leading men of letters but Nicolas Boileau-Despréaux (1636 – 1711), often known simply as Boileau, did much to reform the French poetry of his time. He holds a well-defined place in French literature, being one of the first who applied rules to versification.
