GANNET, William C.
In the winter of 1896-7 Frank Lloyd Wright and William Herman Winslow joined together to publish a limited edition of William C. Gannet's The House Beautiful. Wright had heard the essay in a sermon and was inspired and charmed by the text about the importance of simplicity and craftsmanship in the home. In their publication, Gannet's text was framed with Wright's intricate tapestry-like decorations, inspired by ironwork and Middle Eastern tapestries. This facsimile was published by W. R. and Marilyn Hasbrouck of Prairie School Press.
