Sir Harold Nicolson was an English diplomat, author, diarist, politician, and husband of novellist Vita Sackville-West. In the latter half of the 1930s he was among a relatively small number of MPs who alerted Britain to the threat of fascism. Here he compares Hitler to a famous serial killer, explains the dictator's appeal as well as his weaknesses, and explains how his aims were laid out for all to see in Mein Kampf. He follows this with a detailed history of the fall of Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Poland, and explains Britain's war aims in detail.
