Lt. William Walter Pope becomes Captain in the 15th Battalion "Argyle Light Infantry" of Active Militia, Dominion of Canada, starting Feb. 27, 1885. Pope was from Belleville, Hastings County, was a solicitor, and became a militia lieutenant in 1883.
