Letter reads: "Lieut. Bain will call out the men who have given him their names for enlistment, to be attested at Bryants Tavern. he will also call out any of those who have not given him their names, that live above York. Rich. Martin. Capt. Cayuga ? The men to attend at 9 oclock." Martin eventually became Lieut. Colonel, and was Sheriff of Haldimand from 1850 until his death in 1878. He is buried at St. John's Church, York, six miles from Cayuga.
