Practical Dissections

HODGES, Richard M.

Regular price $750.00 CAD Sale

Hodges (1827-96) graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1850 but went on to study midwifery in Dublin and anatomy and surgery in Paris. Upon his return to Boston, he was appointed demonstrator of anatomy at Harvard. At that time, Oliver Wendell Holmes was professor of anatomy and physiology at the institution. Preparation for the class was of great personal pride to Holmes, meaning Hodges needed an exceptional knowledge of anatomy to keep his position. Fortunately his dissections were known to be skillful and he was more than qualified to write this manual.
